CRIM 496: Issues in Crime and Justice

Prereqs: Upper-division CRIM major or minor, or instructor permission.
Capstone course will focus on contemporary issues of crime and justice.  Justice process and the general operations of the criminal justice system. Concepts of crime and deviance, individual rights, and discrimination in a democratic society will be reviewed and critiqued against the backdrop of contemporary issues.  Law enforcement, judicial, juvenile justice, and corrections subsystems.  Number of reform proposals presented and considered.
