MUSC 467/867: Jazz Improvisation
Exploration of the uses the elements of music (melody, harmony, rhythm, articulation, dynamics, form, etc.) in consonant and dissonant ways to create expressive, emotional and substantive improvisations. Topics include the role of the ear; free playing; intervalic and melodic construction; tone and chord character; and transcription.
