TEAC 413K/813K: Linguistics for the ELL Teacher

In Linguistics for the ELL Teachers, we will build our understanding of the English language from the perspective of the ESL/EFL learner. This course is designed for teachers of English learners at all levels. However, for those of you that teach other languages in a foreign or second language context, you can easily adapt what you learn to this context as well. The course will provide teachers with a basic understanding of how language works, and in particular, the structure of English. The main goal of this course is to make the “unconscious” knowledge of language conscious, and to be able to explain how English works skillfully and clearly to students.
